Quality First Teaching
“If a child can’t learn the way we teach, maybe we should teach the way they learn.” — Ignacio Estrada
At Clapham and Patching we believe that Quality First Teaching is the foundation of great learning for every child. Our lessons are carefully planned to be engaging, inclusive, and matched to the needs of all learners, so everyone feels supported and challenged to do their best. We have high expectations for all groups of learners. We explain learning clearly and adapt our teaching to help our children succeed, whether they need extra support or more challenge.
Over the past 2 years, we have focused our continuing professional development on just this. We have used evidence-based research to create a toolkit for our teachers to use so that we can ensure quality first teaching across our school is the very best it can be, and our children have the knowledge, skills and confidence to succeed whatever their starting point.
